DRJ#2/ Hamlet, Act 2

Initial reaction:

Two men named Rosencrantz and Guildenstern came to Denmark to see Hamlet. Hamlet was stoked to see arrive and they was very cheerful to see him. Child hood friends who were close and I can tell that they really were looking out for Hamlet best interest.

Character Analysis: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were a very smart to Hamlet. They found out that Hamlet father passed and wanted to be there for him. Yet, they were sent there to check on Hamlet because of his behavior. The loud outbursts and actions he was portraying around the royal family. Hamlet was a smart man and he knew that his friends came to also keep an eye on him.

Theme Analysis: The theme had friendship and a little deceit. Although, Hamlet friends followed him around and was a support system to his plan at the end of the say there original motive wasn’t loyal. Hamlet say “Why, any thing, but to the purpose. You were sent for; and there is a kind confession in your looks which your modesties have not craft enough to colour: I know the good king and queen have sent for you (HAMLET1622).” These two friends admitted why they really came after and felt bad but wanted to fix the situation. Hamlets friends decide to flip the original plan to watch over him and assisted his marvelous plan to expose the killing of his father.

  1. There are a lot of deceits going on as the plot unfolds. It must be hard to be in a position of power as you really don't know who you can trust. Just like in today's world you can't give away trust it has to be earned. That is why Hamlet's friends finally confessed that they were sent for. It is no wonder that Hamlet is acting paranoid especially knowing his own uncle killed his father.

  2. The two friends of Hamlet I think were truly looking out for him, I don't think they would go behind his back and tell everyone why he is acting crazy. I feel he has a true trust for his two friends.
