Thesis #2 Kate Chopin’s “The Story of an Hour” is the a novel that explores ideas of struggle to find oneself during the time of the 1990’s as well of today.

Chopin novel gave me a sense of traditional ways of marriage and lifestyle. Mrs. Mallard was a woman who lived our life through marriage. She knew her duties as a wife and had to follow her husbands lead in the 1900’s. She had no voice and no sense of life without her husband being involved. This is how it was in the society where she lived. When she got the news that her husband was dead she went through a session of mourning. She loved him and felt abandoned instantly. However, when she came to and realized that’s she free. Imagery of the birds singing and the realization that she can do whatever she wants. There’s no one who can hold her sense of being. She starts develop herself and it shaped her to symbolized that its not the end but her beginning.
